English Language Arts
In seventh grade English, we will be working on the writing process through Writers' Workshop. The majority of writing will be completed in school as we use Write Traits, Writer's Workshop, and Lucy Calkins programs to help us write engaging, thoughtful, and coherent pieces. Throughout the year, we will also be perfecting our spelling skills using daily warm-ups. It is crucial that everyone comes prepared to class with all of their materials and a positive attitude so they may gain the most out of each lesson!
Our reading class this year will be focused on Reading Workshop. This approach requires students to choose books from different genres and to meet weekly reading goals. We will also cover book studies including The Outsiders, as well as a historical fiction novel. Mini-lessons will teach reading strategies and skills.
